Everyone has them. Places you want to visit or things you want to do. Dream Lists are imperative as they provide something for you to reach for. Yes, I could call them goals, but since I’ve always dreamed of them then they have become items on my Dream List.
I’m nearing 60 and have seen the majority of the lower half of the United States. I’ve seen a few of the northern ones, but so many I have yet to visit. Not necessarily the entire state, but just to visit each state would be amazing. I’ve known people who have accomplished this and they revisit those they enjoyed the most. One of these years I will be able to say I’ve been to them all!
There are also things I want to do…
Learn to dive. I’ve tried it but my anxiety didn’t allow me to relax enough and seeing the bubbles in my peripheral just compounded my anxiety even more. The instructor believes I can accomplish overcoming it by learning from the beach instead of from the boat. Being able to walk in and slowly be introduced to it, versus literally jumping feet first could be a huge difference.
Learn to ride horseback. Yes, I’ve been on horses throughout my life, but never actually learned to ride properly. I’m not talking those tall boots and the little black hat, but rather just how to do it without being quite so awkward on a horse.
Tandem skydive. It looks fun and exciting. I’ll probably end up a heavy lump in front of someone because I passed out shortly after exiting the plane, but I at least want to try. I’d have one of those GoPro cameras on so I can capture the descent and when I land on the ground and wake from passing out then I can enjoy what I missed. LOL
Make pasta from scratch. That says it all, besides…YUM!!!!
Drive the PCH. Ever since I went on a business trip to Newport Beach, California and walked across the PCH to get to Balboa Island I began wondering what all sights can be seen on that highway. Pacific Coast Highway stretches the entire length of the state and offers amazing views with all kinds of fun things to do along the way. I want to fly into Sacramento Airport, rent a car and drive south along the PCH to San Diego then fly back home. Eating, visiting and staying the nights somewhere along the way. So much to see and do!
Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. I’ve heard so much about it and want to experience it at least once in my life. We’ve been to New Orleans Mardi Gras so many times and it was always so much fun and different each year. I heard Carnival is so much more and on a more grand and elaborate scale. One of these years!
Narrow boat trip in UK. I’ve watched so many shows on narrow boating. It looks very fun and relaxing. Everyone can use some relaxation in their life. While it does take a while to get from point A to point B, it is well worth it. The scenery alone, and all the lovely people and places along the way can only make the trip even more amazing than imagined.
Farthest northern and southern points of the US. Point Barrow, Alaska is the most northern point of the 50 states. Northwest Angle, Minnesota is the most norther point of the contiguous states. And Ka Lae, Hawaii is the most southern point of the 50 states. Key West, Florida is the most southern of the contiguous states. Want to go just to say I’ve been!
Machu Picchu Peru. I’ve dreamed about going since I was in 4th grade. My teacher returned from her summer vacation and showed us slides of her trip and my heart got pinned HARD! The views and historical nature of the entire site just pulls me. Not sure I’ll ever make it there, but it’s always going to be on my list.
Then I have these oddball items on my dream list that will be more difficult to accomplish. Buy parcels in various towns and dedicate them to green spaces and stipulate they may only be approved upon by plants and nature but never any buildings nor sold or “given/donated” to anyone or any company. Nature ONLY and no loopholes to turn it into something else.
What do you have on your Dream List?
