Fake World

Let me start by saying that I completely understand that you have to be happy with yourself and most need the reassurance that their appearance is impeccable. The whole, you have to look good to feel good.

I’m here to tell you that you have been sorely mistaken. To feel good, you have to be comfortable with yourself and your God given looks. It has taken me years to understand that. I was told that all my life, yet the world has told me something completely different. The movies, magazines, billboards, etc., have all shown something different and I was caught up in it too. I wasn’t happy with my looks, hair, clothes, anything.

I was…maybe in my 40’s, when I realized that I had been robbed of, not only years of my life, but so much money. I was never into the name brands, but I was into looking nice. My career was an assistant. For over 30 years I was in that role in some fashion. I started as a Receptionist and moved up to an Executive Administrative Assistant in the corporate world. Then I made the change to the medical world holding titles of Sr Secretary and Coordinator II. During COVID is when it dawned on me that I was no long all that happy in that career path. I enjoyed it, don’t get me wrong. It was a lot of fun. The people I met from all over the world. The people I worked for who were fabulous. A few who I’m still friends with even today. The travel for meetings or training. The paychecks that went along with them. But as I got older I realized that I was just going through the motions. I was no longer even satisfied with the clothes and such anymore. Not very happy with my life and the choices I had made along the way. But as they say…you can’t change your past but you can use it to learn from and change your future.

Saying all of that, the world leaves you to believe that you have to make money to be happy. You have to buy all these name brands and wear the fancy clothes and accessories. You have to look a certain way. Fake eyelashes. Boob jobs. But lifts. Etc. Heck, I worked for a department who had a patient that wanted to have Botox because when she raised her eyebrows she had “these lines on her forehead that shouldn’t be there”. I couldn’t tell her that everyone has those lines and they were natural…even babies have them. I had to just give her the paperwork so she could get her Botox. There was another patient who was an avid runner and wasn’t happy that it has cost her her calves and she wanted calf implants. (kept info pretty bland there for HIPPA)

I see people with these ridiculously long eyelashes, push-up bras, girdles (various brands of these) to make their waists and bodies look slimmer, extremely high heels to make their calves and buttocks look good, etc. All I keep thinking is if you wear these things and have your first night with a significant other and they wake up next to you in the morning…you are not the person they drooled over the night before. All your natural is out there for them to see. I say, just let it all hang out and be natural.

As I said, it took me years to learn this. I work with some “kids” who may be high school or early college who are so hung up on their looks that they are always in front of the mirrors in the store to check how their hair and make up look. It’s just sad that this world puts so much stock on appearances and so little stock into fixing what generations have done to the world. If half of that money were put towards fixing the world problems (trash problems, housing issues, unhealthy water in areas of the world, etc.) then today we would have a fewer problems in the world. *yes, I said that People waste billions and maybe trillions of dollars every year trying to make themselves look better by looking a certain way so they could be “accepted” by others, rather than just enjoying what God has already given them.

Learn to love yourself. Love the way you look. Be comfortable in your own skin. Be the individual you were meant to be. I still wear makeup, but because my skin has so much rosacea, but it’s very light and natural looking and just evens out my skin tone. I don’t wear eye stuff, nor perfumes/colognes. I wear a little light powder and blush but that’s all I do. Without the blush I look extremely pale and my blush is only barely there so I have some type of color on me. It’s those who layer it on and you wonder if they smile that their face with crack.

I apologized to my kids numerous times and here I go again.

I’m sorry for the world we are leaving you.

Love yourself…inside and out!

I’m YaYa!

Welcome to my little area of the world.

I am the YaYa of one lovely Little Man, and the parent to three fantastic kids (and yes, this includes the best God chosen daughter ever). My world is green, cooler than Texas, and I live in an apartment shared with my daughter and her two fur babies (in my profile photo). My other grand fur baby lives in Texas with her family (my son, my God chosen daughter, and my Little Man). My time is spent between work, chilling in front of the TV, cooking/baking, long walks to the lake and back, embroidery, painting, reading, laughing at the cats…and lots and lots of playdates via FaceTime with my Little Man.

This is going to be my little mark to leave to my family and to the world. I probably won’t reach very many people, but I know it’ll be here and so will they. It’s my thoughts, my views, some words of advice and a plethora of other things all thrown together to allow you to “pick” my brain selectively. Mind you, I’m not much of an educated person, so a lot may be ramblings and incorrect grammar, but this is me and the inner workings of my mind attempting to work together to share things with you.

Best of luck and I hope I can amuse you and bring a smile or a laugh along the way…

Here goes nothing!
