Apparently a lot of today’s youth have no work ethic at all. I don’t know if it’s because their family are poor examples. Or if they aren’t expected to do anything at home (ie chores).
The youth I work with prefer to barely do anything while they still get paid. Or when they do something, they either partially do it or they just do what they want to make it appear as though they are working. Sometimes they disappear for hours on end only to be found with their buddies chatting in back. Not all are that way, thankfully, but all too many of today’s parents do not (and have not) parented as they should.
I was raised with the understanding that I needed to learn to do things for myself. Cook, clean, earn my own living, etc, because my parents wouldn’t be around forever. I come from a family with very strong work ethics. We are paid to do a job and we do that and more. Always go above and beyond.
When I work with someone who is always saying their bored or asks what to do now (even though they have been doing the job for months) I attempt to explain what they should do in those circumstances. And yet most of those times the outcome is product in the wrong area. They seem to think if it looks like what’s there then that’s where it goes, instead of matching the UPC to what the tag shows.
Anyway…if you happen to be a youth who doesn’t seem to understand that you are paid to do the job for which you were hired then perhaps you chose the wrong job. Perhaps find one which piques your interest more.
Toodles for now!
